August 25 @ 9:27 pmThis week’s Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt theme is “Blue.”
Just one photo this week, but hey isn’t it a nice one!
My riding partner Jim snapped this shot of me last weekend while we were on our ride down to Stevenson, WA. In the bright sun you can actually tell my motorcycle is blue for a change, normally it looks much darker. And of course you can see the blue in my helmet. I normally wear a blue jacket too but I wasn’t sure what the weather was going to do last weekend and this black jacket is more adaptable to a range of conditions.

This week’s Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt theme is “Youth.” And even though I’m away on a road trip, I decided to play anyway! I’m actually writing this Thursday night and if everything works, it should auto-publish itself in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Cross your fingers! Of course, if you’re reading this it DID work so no need really, to cross your fingers. So… uh… strike that.

This week’s Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt theme is “funny.” I can’t say how funny this photos actually *are* but they at least tickled my funny bone!
Both of these shots are from our recent camping trip. This first one is Lindsey playing in Moss Creek. I’m not really sure what she’s trying to say but I managed to snap a shot of it. My son found it amusing as well. As I type this, Lindsey is at summer camp enjoying even more fun in the woods.
Which brings me to Matt, my son. Like most teen-aged kids, his favorite thing is sleeping in. Even when we’re in the middle of the woods camping. While Lindsey has been at camp Matt is staying with me. And I’m about to go wake him up at o’dark thirty because today we’re heading up to Canada for the Abbotsford International Airshow.
Hope you have a great weekend too!
July 25 @ 11:30 amI haven’t done a meme for a while, so I stole this from Leesa.
1. If you had to set your own work schedule; 8 hours per day; 5 days per week. Which days and hours would you choose? I work at home, so I don’t really have a carved in stone schedule. I generally work an 8 hour day but apart from commitments like teleconferences, my hours are really flexible.

This week’s Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt theme is Doors. I have to admit, I struggled with this one a bit, pawing through my collection looking for photos that featured doors, thinking about photos I could take that would include doors. Finally I decided to go with a couple of photos my my kids from a few years ago. Older photos yes, but at least an attempt at a creative spin on the theme! Hey, it’s all I have this week! I just couldn’t figure out a good way to work the motorcycle in on this one!
Are you wondering what this has to do with doors yet? I’ll tell you! These photos were taken at the 2003 Gathering of Warbirds airshow. I have a friend that’s part of a historical recreation group and at this event they normally setup a complete Vietnam-era firebase, complete with vehicles and helicopters. This is a photo of each of the kids sitting in the door gunner position on a UH-1 Huey helicopter. See how that fits?
You’ll be getting more airshow photos in August, Matt and I will be trekking up to Canada to visit the Abbotsford International Airshow.
July 7 @ 11:30 pmThis week’s Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt theme is sign(s). You can guess where this is going, go on… you know you can!
Riding a motorcycle, you look for signs all over the place. Especially signs that give you a clue what the road is doing up ahead. Let’s be honest, those of us on two wheels generally travel a little faster than our counterparts on four wheels. That means we have less time to respond and it’s important to always be thinking further ahead so you don’t get caught off guard. Especially in corners. This represents my favorite type of road sign, indicating a nice high speed sweeper ahead. Yes, it’s marked 45mph but it can be handled at a substantially higher speed on a motorcycle without much effort. And that my friends, is fun!

This week’s Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt theme is automobiles(s). It seems an appropriate theme now that summer is in full swing. After all, what’s more American than the traditional summer road trip? I drag the kids off on a trip every summer without fail. I try not to over do it but I think they enjoy it. We pick a destination and head off, with no real schedule to keep or mileage we have to make. I like to stop along the way for photos or to check out an interesting road side attraction. I don’t remember my parents ever taking time for that sort of thing. This particular photo was from a trip down to Northern California 2 or 3 years ago. We camped our way down on an adventure through the Redwood forests of Oregon and California. This is the traditional “driving the car through a tree” photo. My son snapped this one for me.
June 17 @ 12:01 am
This week’s Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt theme is “Sports/Father’s Day.” I struggled with this one because I just don’t have that many sports-related photos, and none with me and the kids. So I’m just going with photos of the kids this week. At least they are *new* photos taken Friday evening! And note, no motorcycles in evidence! See I can take photos of something else after all.
You can’t really tell from this first photo, but Lindsey got her hair cut this week. She’s been growing it out so she could donate it. They cut 10-inches off this week, she looks really cute with shorter hair. I’ll get better pictures of it this weekend.
