July 15 @ 11:37 pmYeah, this mini-vacation was definitely too short! Made it home safe and sound though. Lindsey and I both enjoyed the trip. Saturday we drove out to Westport, WA as planned and goofed around a while. Couldn’t figure out exactly where the kite event was so we punted on that. Spent the night in a hotel in Aberdeen, WA right on the river. Enjoyed spending time in their indoor pool!
Sunday morning dawned cold, gray and rainy. We decided not to head back to Westport and instead headed north along the coast to do the loop around the Olympic National Park. The weather on the coast eventually cleared up and it became a beautiful day. We jagged back and forth between the coastline and the interior as we followed Hwy 101 north.
Lindsey’s goal for the day was to walk on the beach and look for rocks and seashells. After stopping at Lake Quinault for a snack, we chatted with the clerk and he recommended we visit Ruby Beach. Boy was he right, it was beautiful and exactly what we were looking for! Definitely the highlight of our trip!
As usual, more photos at Flickr!

I would be in driftwood heaven at Ruby Beach!! It is so stunning, and I love those big rocks. Wonderful photos, and especially the ones where you caught the waves spraying the rocks!!
Glad you guys had a great time!

Absolutely incredible! That big rock in the last photo looks like a giant frog. LOL All the names of these places are very familiar, and some of the pics look familiar as well, I wonder if I’ve been there. I have to dig out a map and take a peek as my sense of direction in nil. YOu made me very ‘homesick’ for that entire area. Absolutely stunning photos and Lindsey is sure to remember this week for the rest of her life. You’re an awsome dad!
