May 20 @ 5:47 pmI wish I had something else to blog about, but frankly it’s tough enough just working and getting through life at the moment. I haven’t been doing anything else besides reading and watching TV. It would be nice to think that the visit to the specialist this week will “fix” things but it’s probably just the first of several visits, testing, poking, prodding, etc. I hope he’ll opt for aggressive treatment though, even if that means surgery. I’m ready for life to get back to the quirky approximation of “normal” that I’m used to.
I’ve switched pain medications, I’m on Vicodin now which actually works much better. I don’t feel nearly as nauseous and I’m not as fuzzy while taking them. The bad part is, they block the pain so well that after a couple of days, I wonder if I really need to take them. So I stop just to see. And a day or so later, yep, I’m still in pain. Being on pain killers for so long actually worries me, since these things are addictive. I try to limit how many I take and how often. Hopefully this will get resolved soon and I can stop taking them all together!

I can’t believe they’re contemplating surgery! But I guess if this is what it’s going to take, then so be it. Mike, you’re in my thoughts & prayers. I sure wish we were closer ~ I can’t imagine what you are feeling, but it sucks being alone, I know that much.

Dude, hang in there… I know this must be tough for you. I’m over at my blog whining about not running, but man you are The Man for toughing out the pain like that.
If you think that you might get addicted to the pain medication, you may want to just switch to crack.

Vicodin makes me itch all over. Give me Percocet and lean me in a corner.
Sure hope you get better soon, especially now that the Warm Rainy Season is here.

Hi Mike, I have been following your blog for a long time now, just to keep up with you. I am so sorry to hear about your recent bout of illness. I went to Jenn’s birthday party on Saturday and thought I might get to see you too but alas, you were and are, still under the weather
Greg said you were planning on coming to see The Fantasticks at Redwood-man, what a great show! I was so proud of everyone involved, wish you could have been there. Keep your chin up and remember that if God brings you to it, he will bring you through it-but I am sure the sooner, the better!! Michelle
