November 29 @ 12:10 amOr rather, movie-goers STAY home… at least if you were planning to see Turistas. I had to go to a press screening tonight, despite the icy weather. I did what any sane person would do… called a friend with a Jeep and had him drive.
I’m normally a fairly optimistic reviewer, I can find something positive to say about just about anything. But I’m really struggling with this one. If I wasn’t on the hook for a review I probably would have walked out.
It’s bad people… I mean really bad. It’s not really even scary or psychological. It’s pretty much predictable and formulaic. If you’re a fan of this type of movie you’ve seen it all done better somewhere else. Just save your money, I’d even skip the DVD myself. Let this one die a peaceful death.

I’ve never heard of it either, but I’ll keep in mind not to add it to my netflix list.
Have you ever seen “End of the Spear”? I recently watched, I wish I hadn’t sent it back so quick, I’d like to watch again…I think there’s supposed to be a sequel, I’d like to see it. It’s not your everyday kind of movie..I liked it.

I unfortunately saw a preview at the end of some show recently (they did something similar with Dawn of the Dead and a few others) Wasn’t sure what I was watching, thought at first it was an old movie because everything was so familiar..then I saw the movie ad at the end..ugh. Not even on my radar to go see. your comments just cement that.

Trailer didn’t inspire a further look but thanks for the confirmation.
We saw Happy Feet last night. We left a bit confused. Mixed messages and unclear plot…well, unclear subplot. Came away with that look your dog gives you when you tell ‘em to do something…ya know, tilts their head to the side and one eyebrow goes up. Yeah, that’s the face.

ok, “The Ride of the Valkyries”…had to google it. Where have I heard that before? It sounded very familiar…Star Wars?

ps..the answer is posted now..

“The Ride of the Valkyries” featured prominently in a scene from Apocalypse Now… the helicopter assault on the Vietnamese village. It’s been used elsewhere but that’s probably one of the most well know movie appearances.

It’s been hit and miss with my computer here at work…sometimes I can comment on certain blogs, sometimes I can’t. And I STILL can’t pull up my own blog!!!
Anyway, I can’t ever recall hearing about Turistas before…I’ll have to check out the link.
