November 14 @ 12:11 amI swear I’m going to kill myself in my own kitchen at this rate. I’ve been wearing socks around the house and there is a slick spot right at the entrance that I seem to hit every time I walk in there. It’s just a matter of time before I break my neck!
I’ve been spending more time in the kitchen recently. I’m really starting to enjoy cooking more. It has driven home how inadequately stocked my kitchen is however. I have what I imagine is a typical bachelor’s suite of cooking tools. A motley collection of hand-me-downs and mismatched pieces. I should probably invest in replacements, once I figure out what to buy. Tips? Suggestions?
I made a nice homemade chili for the kids and I while they were over this past weekend. Even baked corn muffins to go with. MMMmmm… I expected to have left overs for myself. I wound up with enough to have a bowl for lunch today. I may have to double the recipe next time. *sigh*

Too bad you missed Pam’s Pampered Chef party. The pamper chef pans are good. We have 3 pieces of those. if you are a little more price conscious Sams has an Anoidized Set or at least “had” a set of good pans. But you need nylon utensils as to avoid scratches…

When you cook a pot of chili, and you are left with barely a bowl, we call that…”damn good chili!” LOL I actually did bite the dust in my kitchen, landed right where the pride hurts, so to speak…the perfect solution is little kitchen rugs. ALSO- In replacing kitchen stuff, look for a good basic set of pots and pans, and build on that. Like, adding a special size saute pan, special stainless steel spatula and wire whisk. A basic set of mixing bowls. And when selecting things like plates, silverware, glassware, go with your personal style, favorite color, or something that just “speaks to you”…. Hope I was helpful!

I would love to cook, really.. but just no one to cook for. No fun cooking for one. When the hubs is home, he’s the cook. No complaints there

LOL ~ I’m a Walmart shopper for utencils, etc. But I do have a well-stocked kitchen, especially since I just cook for one (ok, 2 with Amy here). It’s still not as much fun as cooking for a bunch.

Hmm..well I have a ~dream list~ of kitchen stuff. Le Crueset, Calphalon, lots of industrial grade stainless steel stuff for prep…hmm, what else? Ooh..a huge fridge. And a warming tray thing!! Soapstone counter tops & sink. Island with a grill and hood, and its own prep sink.
Ok..that may be a bit too much. LOL

I absolutely cannot live without my Pampered Chef food chopper. I used it EVERY SINGLE DAY! as well as my PC garlic press, but we eat alot of garlic here so that may not be as necessary to some. I use my crockpot alot this time of year, and my PC 9×13 or whatever size it is casserole stoneware. LOVE it. No, I don’t sell PC, just a rabid consumer, but if those things bit the dust I’d replace them in a heartbeat with the same exact make and model.
