October 14 @ 12:58 pmAgain, this isn’t the photo I intended for today’s Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt theme “Lost.” I had a great motorcycle photo and I was going to do a post on how we often get “lost” on purpose just to discover new roads and explore. That was before I woke up at 4am. My first thought was “Ouch ouch ouch.” Then it occurred to me that I’ve experienced this pain before. Yeah, kidney stones. I’m on allopurinol to deal with them and I haven’t had any problems for a couple of years. Until this morning.
I elected not to go to the hospital right away. I figured I’d push fluids and see how things progressed. I have a high pain threshold… but it still hurt like hell mind you. I’m pleased to say the crisis has… ahem… passed. Capturing the stone is necessary so the docs can analyze it and see if my meds need to be adjusted. The photo was a fringe benefit.
Definately glad to have “lost” this stone!

Oh. My. Ummm… As I looked at the pic, I was HOPING it wasn’t a “part”. It was. YIKES!
Michael, I hope you’re feeling better. And I’m glad you didn’t share with us how you captured it.

Oh. That’s different. I am really trying to avoid offering my first reaction up as a comment, but… ew. And, I hope you’re doing okay now and don’t have to suffer many more of these in your lifetime.
October 14 @ 7:18 pm
Ouch…
Hope you are feeling better!
October 14 @ 8:41 pm

Happy weekend!

Ouch! Sorry you’re having problems, and hopefully you’re feeling better by now. Drink lots of cranberry juice - it’s supposed to help. (I think!).
Feel better!

There’s an interpretation I don’t think anyone can top, lol. I sure hope all’s better now.
October 16 @ 4:58 am
YEEEEE-OUCH!
Oooo…I just BET you’re glad THAT”S over.
Whew!
October 16 @ 8:17 am
Been there, done that. The entertainment value of passing a kidney stone is way over-rated.
There is nothing like the ping, swish feeling when it actually passes.
October 16 @ 12:14 pm
I have a picture from my colonoscopy that my wife refused to let me put up on my blog. Wait till I tell her about this.
I’m feeling your pain today, BTW. Shingles!! I just took a Tylenol 3. My tolerance for pain is not so great.
October 16 @ 2:09 pm
Ouch.
I want a pretty purple metal ruler tho.

Good GAWD, man, that’s inhuman! I thought they used a sonic sledgehammer to reduce those suckers!
October 22 @ 8:35 pm
OUCH! Now that is one stone that can stay lost. You poor thing. You must have a high threshold for pain. My dad passed a stone half that size a few years ago, and mercy was he down for the count. Kudos to you for dealving into the theme!
October 27 @ 7:58 pm
Holy crap, Mike..that is crazy huge for a kidney stone. Jesus…wow, are you OK??? Sheesh..maybe you better sit down. For like a week. Yikes.
No, really..yikes.
