The Great Adventure

I’ve had several people, including close friends, comment recently that I seem to make an adventure out of everything. Sometimes, not always, but sometimes it almost seems like they are taking me to task for this attitude. My response is, “What’s wrong with that?”  Frankly, I think anyone that doesn’t tackle life with reckless abandon is the one with the problem.

I confess that it took a series of life shaking events to bring me around to this way of thinking. It’s easy to get so wrapped up in worrying about tomorrow that we forget to enjoy today. I don’t want to suggest that I am completely irresponsible. I still maintain a budget, pay for insurance, things like that.  But I have definitely shifted my priorities in life.

For me, this means taking the time to do things I enjoy on a regular basis. Weekend trips, spending time with my kids doing fun things, riding as often as I feel like, and trying new things that pique my interest. In the past I would have said, “Someday wouldn’t it be nice…”  Now I say, “Today, I’m going to do this!”

My advice to you, don’t put off the pleasurable part of life. Enjoy each and every day. Tomorrow can be snatched away in the blink of an eye. Personally, when I check out I want it to be with no regrets for lost opportunities.

    I couldn’t agree more with you. I never want to look back when I’m 80 & say “I wish I had… I would have, could have… but I didn’t.”

Carpe Diem. Nothing wrong with that. I do enjoy the quiet moments too, listening to the rain and riding my own (non-motorized) bike.

But my father once accused me of ‘pushing the envelope’ on our vacations in order to produce some memorable moments. But life should be an adventure.

I, for one, think that is an awesome way to live life! Life IS an adventure, or at least it should be! It’s the only way to go! Stacie 0==(D)

My sister dying had the same effect on me. Wakes you up. It’s not a rehearsal. Don’t wait til tomorrow! Enjoy every day, not just sporadic weekends.
