I guess it's true..things happen for a reason. While an accident isn't the ideal way to reconnect with family, maybe the ultimate plan was for exactly that..to have time with your mother before her passing. I always have weird thing that trigger memories too.. Stacie 0==(D)

I almost lost my left leg about 8 years ago in a motorcycle accident. My wife and I had just married. She took care of me only like a mother could've. While I'm not glad I had the accident and the retained hardward, I am glad for the time we had and the bonding that took place.

Touching story man.

That was one of the things I was very happy about, I was glad you got that chance to be with her. I'm also glad that you were not able to come in the end. It would have clouded the happy memories you had with her. It all worked out for the best.

Funny to see this post. I think she's been trying to make herself known to us. My daughter found a tiny photo album and all of the photos tied in with the same idea that she knew she was very sick. Photo of her seagulls (she gave me a book Johnathan Livingston Seagull that birthday), a photo of her rosary and an inspirational saying, a photo of herself, and a photo of the kids. I just got the skin crawling sensation when I saw that. Love you bro!

Isn't it strange they way we make those kinds of associations? Every once in awhile, something will strike me funny about my father. I stand there for a minute lost in my own head, remembering. And then it's gone again. A smell or a sound or an object and he's right there.
Strange.

Wow... incredible story, Michael. I surely am glad you were able to make it thru such a nearly very horrible time in your life.

It's good to get a chance to say the things you need to before it's too late. My dad was a long term dialysis patient and when he decidid he'd had enough he cheked into the Hospital to check out. We had a chance to get all the things said that we needed to for closure.

Sorry to hear about your mother dying. My father died last May. It's a feeling that's hard to describe.

Aw, Michael...despite the fact that you had to suffer thru all that, I'm glad you and your Mom spend some quality time together. Those memories you'll carry with you for the rest of your life! :)
