Very nice review. Extremely well written. And interesting twist on it. It would have been interesting too, to see if I picked up on the parallel’s.

Good review. I’m glad you didn’t include any spoilers. They have an IMAX theatre nearby and I’m tempted.

I don’t want to read it yet, cuz I’m going to see it (in IMAX, baby!) on SAT.
I’ll check back, and see how our reviews mesh.

You asked my opinion…
Ok, other than IMAX being a nice big screen… it’s not particularly worth going to see Superman Returns there. The 3D didn’t add anything, INMO. The plane rescue, the running thru the wheat/corn (?) fields, um… a couple other scenes in 3D. Not that thrilling, and actually pretty distracting.
My perspective on this is that I enjoyed the idea of a secular savior. But what didn’t work for me was the lack of charm I’ve come to expect from the franchise. I thought Lois was kinda cold and “one-note.” But I liked everyone else, esp. Spacey. I too wish they’d given Parker Posey more to do. The movie feels more like Part One, than something self-contained. The major crisis was too isolated, and didn’t affect enough people to make me feel worried about anyone but Superman. At that point, there were a couple good gaping gaps in logic too.
That said… it was just a fun movie, solid for the most part, and I like Singer (director), but wish the script had been better.
