This week’s Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt theme is “Red, White & Blue” for Memorial Day. Of course I *immediately* thought about using a photo of my bike, which is blue and has red & white shark teeth but you’ve seen enough of it lately! I thought you might like a break!
Instead, I dug into my archive of airshow photos and pulled a few from there. Airshows nearly always start with some sort of flag ceremony and are a very patriotic event. One of my favorite local shows is the “Gathering of Warbirds” in Olympia, WA. The kids and I have been multiple times. The photos here are from two different years.
Airshows are what got me started into photography BTW. I’ve been a member of the Seattle Museum of Flight for many, many years. Once upon a time they offered a series of classes on aviation photography. On a lark I signed up and that’s how the whole thing began. That was back in the 35mm days. I’ve still got a shoebox filled with prints around here somewhere.

You always have such great photos. This one of the sky diver….ewwwww, that sends chills—not only the flag, but my fear of heights. More power to them for doing that!!!

I love air shows. I always get a lump in my throat when they drop with the flag like that. Those are really good pictures - clear and sharp.

I LOVE air shows. When I was growing up, my dad and I used to go to them all the time. I’ve not gone for a while now and I really miss it. Great photo!!!!

Great photos. My mom and dad love to go to air shows. They used to go to Halls,TN every year. They have an old naval base there.

Very unique! I mean - it’s not just your typical flag! I’ve been to many airshows growing up, but don’t remember seeing anything like that! Great photos!
