You know it was a good ride when you’re still mentally exhausted the next day! Fortunately for you, I did find the energy to edit down all that video into something a little more manageable.
This video will give you a MUCH better idea what a few hours in the saddle of a sport bike is like. Yes, it can be dangerous, yes we pushed a bit hard in spots, and yes we’re rusty after being on hiatus for so long. But… we still had a blast!
For the record, this photo is from the last time Jim and I rode together. That would have been our trip to Mount Baker the day before my accident. That should give you a little context on the significance of yesterday’s ride, a major milestone for me really.

I can’t download your clip at the library so I will have to take a peek at work. When you mentioned “excessive speed” I remember how police once tracked a cycle going at some ungodly speed, maybe 150 miles an hour or something like that. Faster than many cars can go.
Obviously, you don’t want to become like Evil Knievl. Take care.

While our bikes are capable of speeds well in excess of 150mph, we don’t typically ride that fast. A couple of the passes in the video did hit triple-digit speeds but only briefly. Most of this ride was probably around 55-60mph max, even slower in some of the tight stuff.

Downloading now. It’s a biggie, only at 3 percent. But I’m sure it will be worth it.

Download finished. I can’t wait to show this to Guy, he’ll love it. Great job Bro. A little scary for me. But hey that is a little sister for you. Someone has to worry about you. Love you!
Ok enough mushy crap. Make more, those are great!
April 25 @ 8:11 pm
Heh heh… if it wasn’t a *little* scary it wouldn’t be worth doing! Was just on the phone with Jim (the other rider) talking about our next trip, so I think you can definately look forward to more. We’re going to try swapping the mount onto his bike next time so you’ll get a chance to follow me through a few twisties from his perspective.

That was relaxing…well mostly.

Couple of times I was tensing up expecting some moron to pull out in front of Jim. NICE choice of music. Very enjoyable.
Well done presentation!

ok, you’re going to think I am a complete dork..i just watched the last video, (haven’t watched the new one yet) and it was sooooo cool. I was sitting on the bed with the laptop (and here’s where the dork thing comes in) I actually found myself leaning when you turned, and tucking my elbows in when you pulled in and out of the driveway near the cars. And that semi…damn near gave me a heart attack! The tunnels though…were the coolest! I wonder if my flight instructor would let me mount a camera in the Cherokee….hmmmm 0==(D)

Pam - Hey we expect moron’s to pull out in front of us too! If you notice, we often move to the far side of the lane when a car or truck pulls up on the one side or the other. That’s in anticipation of having to dodge out of the way.
Stacie - That’s not dorky! I do the same thing and it’s my video!
Riding a motorcycle is kind of like flying in two dimensions in a way. We “pre-flight” just like in an airplane to make sure all systems are go, we worry about weight and balance and as you might have noticed, we bank when changing direction too! And we have to keep our heads on a swivel too, to make sure there’s no traffic about to enter our airspace.
I uh… wouldn’t try taking that Piper into any tunnels though…

My brother does tricks like that on bikes, too. I don’t wanna about it, though because it scares the bejeezus outa me!

Cool!! I tried to load this last night and I could not get the link to upload (or is it download??)..but it worked for me fine this morning!! Very cool! You have to promise to give me a ride if I ever make it out that way!!!

M - I’ll be the first one to admit that riding a motorcycle has its dangers. Riding is my passion so I accept the risk. Honestly though, if it hooks you there is nothing else like it.
L - Well of course I’ll take you “dancing!” Just bring a pair of over-the-ankle shoes and a leather jacket, I can supply the rest of the gear. So, open-ended rain check for riding and Thai food, you pick the day and I’m there.

Looks cool, but still looks scary at the same time. I do a lot of adventurous stuff, but not sure I could get on a motorcycle for some reason.

Carmen - You never know, you might like it. But I agree it’s not for everyone. Even on two wheels there are different styles of riding. Riding a cruiser or Harley is a way different experience than what this video portrays. Those guys can carve it up too, but not normally to the degree we sport bikers do. I think riding is one of those things that polarizes people, you either love it or hate it, not much gray space in between.

FRIED CHICKEN!! Love that song.
Beautiful scenery. Corners make me nervous.

I fell in love with that song watching the movie “Iron Eagle”…
Corners are where life begins… straight roads are boring!
