True, they happen but they are preventable. Mine certainly was. I was heading home from Seattle on an evening late in September 2005. It was actually a bike meet and I was riding the ZZR. It was dark out, raining a little and as I merged onto I-5 heading south I could tell there was a problem from the bumper-to-bumper traffic. I found out later that a semi had jackknifed further down the road.
Prefering not to ride in heavy traffic like that, I decided to take the next exit and work my way around the traffic jam on surface streets. I wasn’t familiar with that exit but I expected I could navigate my way to surroundings I knew. That decision set into motion a chain of events that would consume the next five months of my life.

Yesterday was an important day! It was the day my shipment of parts from the Great White North arrived. These are the parts necessary to get “Precious” back on the road after our little accident in September. To celebrate this important milestone I went through my ride photos from last year and pulled some of my favorites to share with you, just to kick off the “bike” part of our show.

My feet have taken a beating over the last five months. In late 2005 I was involved in a motorcycle accident and crushed my right ankle badly enough to need a series of reconstructive surgeries. For most of that time I wasn’t able to put any weight at all on that foot, so my left foot had to do all the work of getting me around. Things are better now, I’m able to put my full weight on my rebuilt right foot and have even started walking without a cane. Still being on my feet for any length of time is exausting so I decided they needed a little pampering today.
March 4 @ 3:30 pmJust getting moved in so pardon the dust. I haven’t started redecorating yet or anything!

Ok, things are mostly working and I’m happy with this hacked together theme for now. Special thanks to Blogs-About for hosting yet another blog for me. Highly recommended! Still a lot of features I want to add but the basics are all working and that’s enough for the moment.
