Yeesss… today I rejoined the two-wheeled community. I have to confess, I wasn’t sure how it would go. I didn’t *think* I’d have any problems but I just wasn’t positive that I’d be comfortable riding. That turned out to be no issue at all.
Today dawned cold but sunny and it turned out to be a gorgeous day. I got all the gear ready and warmed the bike up. Gearing up is something of a ritual for me. I wear it all, boots, armored pants, jacket, gloves, helmet and often a reflective vest. It’s kind of like the knights of old preparing to ride their chargers into battle.
My only real goal was to fill the tank up with gas. It was low the night of the accident and now sitting on fumes since I’d been warming it up regularly. I kind of figured that it wouldn’t be running well after sitting for over five months but she purred like a kitten. I got gas and then hit a few of my favorite on/off ramps in the local area just to work the kinks out and verify that all systems were green. It was fantastic!
This week, I’ll hopefully get the new tires mounted and installed and get my new armored pants in (wore the old ones today that suffered some minor damage in the accident). The icing on the cake today was just a few blocks from home when I passed another sport bike heading in the other direction and we exchanged waves. With a simple gesture I was part of the two-wheeled family again…

Well it’s not THAT warm here, just warmer than it has been. I wore several layers of gear.
This is Seattle, it never get’s truly hot!
